Ever notice how sometimes, the better we are doing, the less we take care of ourselves? Imagine a gorgeous woman stepping out of a crumbling house each day. You might wonder, “How can someone so glowing live in such decay?” The same could be asked about our health. How can we be so full of life, so empowered, yet treat our well-being like it’s insignificant?

I’ve been there. Whenever I felt perfect in my health, instead of doubling down on good habits, I got careless. I would boast, “I rarely fall sick; I must be superhuman!” This mentality led me to make choices that didn’t protect my health.

It’s quite the contradiction, isn’t it? When we’re “ chasing our ambitions” in life — whether it’s in our careers or relationships — sometimes, we often take it as a free pass to neglect our health. It’s as if we think our “wins” make us immune to the natural laws that govern our bodies.

We shine in our intelligence, beauty, and accomplishments, but falter when it comes to taking care of ourselves. We might be glowing on the outside but are we thriving on the inside? And if not, how can we bridge this gap?

What is Health? Actually!!

The term “health” encompasses total well-being in emotional, mental, and physical aspects of life and the purpose of healthcare is to assist individuals in maintaining wellness across these crucial life dimensions.

The path to truly loving ourselves by prioritizing our health is a lengthy one, but it’s a trip worth taking. So where do we start?

  1. Awareness: First, recognize the disconnect. Your external success shouldn’t come at the expense of your internal well-being.

  2. Prioritization: Start placing your health at the top of your to-do list. No compromise.

  3. Small Steps: Begin with manageable lifestyle changes — swap junk food with fruits, take short walks, aim for at least 7–8 hours of sleep.

  4. Medical Check-ups: Don’t overlook the importance of regular screenings and check-ups. Prevention is better than cure.

  5. Self-love: Last but not least, remember that self-care is the ultimate form of self-respect and self-love.

Let’s not just glow and win on the outside, but let’s also thrive and flourish in our health. It’s a journey worth embarking upon, because when we genuinely love ourselves, it shows — in every possible way.

So here’s to making better choices, cherishing our health, and truly glowing from the inside out. #thesocialentrepreneur #SDG3
